Since 2023, I have been working with Conflux - Canberra’s longest-running Speculative Fiction convention.
In 2023, I was their Artist-in-Residence. Since then, I’ve been the convention’s Arts Show Coordinator. This has led me to meet an inumerable amount of fantastic new people, all who are unashamed to be passionate in their interests.
I set up the arts show, liase with artists, and speak on panels to give my strong but limited perspective on the world of Speculative Fiction.
Conflux Conventions
In 2025, I have been dabbling in basic UI design outside of setting up my own website. Armed with my background in Visual Arts and the ability to push buttons on a computer, I have been excited to explore this new design experience.
First up, I redesigned the Conflux Conventions Art Show webpage. I then volunteered to update the ‘Brisbane in 28’ Worldcon bid website from scratch. I’m now taking on the task of creating a website for the National Australian Horror Convention 2027.
From the different CMS’ I have tried out as a total beginner, I have found Squarespace the most user-friendly, and WordPress requiring more finesse than I was able to give it.

“The fixation integral to Saunders’ work within their practice has not deterred them from intimate collaborative work, and they recognise the need to be in and of the world when making art. Being drawn to the innate collaborate nature of portraiture, Saunders engages with a dance of portrayal and perception.”
— Brennan O’Brien, 2023.
Uncovering Authenticity
(The Portraiture Journey of Red Saunders) -
“Saunders’ figural works are highly detail oriented and focus on testing the limits of the human form, pushing the boundaries of what is perceived as physically possible or not.”
— Benjamin Claridge, 2024.
Red Saunders
(Community, Subcultures, and the Human Form) -
“The cover art by Red Saunders is rather disturbing, echoing the theme of the human body as a shifting source of wonder, horror, and delight. Look closer, though, and that gaping body cavity is full of things that shouldn’t be there – Or perhaps they should. There is an element inside that tortured flesh for every story in the anthology.”
— Britni Pepper, 2023.
